Let Us Start at the Beginning

Hello all. My name is Falecia Parker. As I write to you from the warmth of my bed, I am thinking about several things. Specifically, I am thinking about this blog, and all the hopes I have for it. This is the very first post I have ever made, so I guess I should break the ice.

I will be 19 years old exactly two weeks from today. I have lived in Wichita, Kansas my entire life. Of course, that statement will change in six months. I intend to be on the road at 6 am with a U-Haul attached to the back of my car and a playlist that will keep me satisfied for 13 hours on August 8th, 2014. I am moving to Nashville, Tennessee, my favorite place in the world. Though I would love to tell you all about that, lately I have been trying to focus on right now, and living in the moment, as cheesy as that sounds. I don't want to spend the days I've been given caught up in events that won't happen for quite some time. Sure, six months is not far from now, in fact, I am terrified of how quickly it will come, but God has been teaching me to focus on what's in front of me.

So, what is it that I am doing right now? Well, I am a full time para-educator at an elementary school here in Kansas. I spend Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM with children. Honestly, though it can be challenging at times, and what job can't, I really love it. I feel like I have a purpose when I wake up in the morning. It's hard to explain, but all I can say that is comprehendible is that I love it a whole lot.

Then, in the evening time (usually Thursday through Sunday) I am a part time barista at Starbucks! It's so funny. I feel like an adult with an adult job during the day, and then at night, I write "Vanilla Bean Frappuccino" on cups. It's a really nice balance. I am very thankful and incredibly blessed that I have two jobs so that I can save up enough money before I move, and I asked for this because all I want is Nashville, but all I know is my feet are killing me. But I know it's worth it. The aching is just temporary.

In the little amount of free time that I do have, I am trying my best to submit to God's plan for me in every way possible, and make the most of the relationships I have with people in my life that are living in Wichita too. And I watch The Following with my stepdad and brothers every Monday night. Goodness, I'm sitting here trying to think of what else I do and I can't think of anything. How sad. Who cares.

Anyways - I'm super excited for this blog and what it will turn into. I plan on getting a camera with whatever birthday money I might receive in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to experiment with it and capture moments that I won't get back.

Thank you for reading. Good night!
